Spotlight on Local Business
HAPPY FOODS MAKES PEOPLE HAPPY—even beyond Edgebrook!
We all know our Happy Foods as the place where you can always get cheap milk, where you are bound to run into someone you know, and where they offer to take your groceries to the car…..but they really do so much more. Happy Foods ALWAYS supports their community. From hosting the Fall Festival to their float in the 4th of July parade, Happy Foods always does its part and more.
In addition to its wonderful deli, its terrific butcher and its new wine selections, Happy Foods quite simply makes people “happy”. On almost any weekend you will see kids from girls scouts, boy scouts, or one of the local schools selling cookies, raffle chances or popcorn—a reminder to all of the active and vibrant community we are so lucky to live in. They even let the ECA sell 4th of July T-Shirts every year!
Recently Happy Foods owner Barb Eastman responded to a special appeal from one of the local Girl Scout troops. Nine scouts from Cadette troop 924 were awarded their Silver Award Project. This award is the second highest award given in girl scouting and involves extensive work and volunteering in the areas of leadership and community service. As part of their work on this project, the girls are collected personal care items that were used to create hygiene kits for homeless youth and adults. They also be prepared and served meals with the Night Ministry Outreach Bus. Happy Foods heard about their project and answered the call by donating a whole trunk load of supplies to the collection. What a wonderful example of generosity to the girls working on this award and those they are seeking to serve.
Happy Foods has always been generous to the Edgebrook Community Association. But their recent donation to help these local scouts confirms that their generosity has no borders. Thanks Happy Foods for making our community better.
